South West Coast Path Part 6 Day 5 – Helford to Falmouth

St Mawes, Cornwall
If time and tide permit, I'll take the ferry from Falmouth to Place stopping off for a short while in St Mawes

THURSDAY JULY 16th, 2020 - HELFORD (or DURGAN) TO FALMOUTH

Approximately 10 miles (or less). Moderate

The last day of this week's walking and I'll be picking up from Helford or Durgan depending on how the previous day went. Falmouth is our ultimate destination today.

With some luck, I'll have made Durgan yesterday and reach Falmouth in time to take a relaxing return Ferry trip to St Mawes and Place - Just so that I can say I didn't miss anything out!

Helford to Falmouth Route
South West Coast Path Part 6 Day 5. Route from Helford to Falmouth

The route today takes me Eastward along the Helford estuary to Toll Point, Parsons Beach and then to Rosemullion Head. Here I head North towards my coffee break at Maenporth. High Cliff - just before Maenporth - sounds ominous, but the higher ground is further inland and our elevations today are around 200ft max.

South West Coast Path Part 6 Day 5. Coffee stop at Maenporth Beach

A short coffee stop today as I'll be keen to make Falmouth early to ensure I can enjoy my ferry ride. After coffee I continue north-east via Pennance Point, Swanpool Beach, Gyllingvasse Beach and on to Pendennis Point on the outskirts of Falmouth. I then walk around the Falmouth sea front heading for the ferries. If time and tides permit, I'll take a relaxing return ferry ride across to St Mawes and then on to Place on the Roseland Peninsular. This will complete my journey for this week, and I can start planning to pick up from here next time.
