SOUTH WEST COAST PATH – FALMOUTH TO PORTLOE
The first of six walking days this week I’ll be walking another stretch of the South West Coast Path from Falmouth to Portloe.
TUESDAY MAY 18TH, 2021
SCHEDULE:
Approximately 13 miles – Easy to Strenuous
05:00 – 12:00 Driving from Leicestershire to Cornwall to park the car at St Anthony Head Lighthouse Car Park
12:00 – 14:00 Walk to Portscatho
14:00 – 14:30 Cornish tea and scone perhaps?
14:30 – 17:00 Press on to Portloe where I hope to be able to enjoy and ‘end of first day’ beer before getting a taxi back to pick up my car
It’s going to feel great to be back on ‘The Path’ again. A lovely start too as I’ll be walking my way around another of Cornwall’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: The Roseland Peninsula. This stretch totals around 13 miles. Overall, it’s graded as Challenging; it begins with a number of steep climbs and descents as I work my way around St Anthony’s Head. After a while it becomes a little easier but with more challenges to come as I get nearer to Portloe.
I will be driving down to Cornwall early morning but still hoping to complete this challenging stretch before I retire to my accommodation for the evening. However, I have already identified a couple of possible break points where I may call it a day if necessary.

You can find the highlights and more information on this route on The South West Coast Path website
You are more than welcome to join me on this trip and or on any part of my next SWCP journey – subject, of course, to sensible social distancing measures. Please get in touch beforehand though and I will be sure to look out for you.
And please bookmark this page and return a few weeks later; I will be posting an update and some more photographs in good time.
