Approximately 11 miles – challenging to strenuous
An early start today, leaving home at around 6 for the long drive to the South West. Not too much traffic on the way so I got into the region at around 11.30. Parked my car in Brixham and took a bus ride to Kingswear to start today’s walk,
The weather was pleasant and dry with sunny periods. A few times it threatened to spoil the afternoon with some rain, but it stayed dry throughout my walk.
This is quite a challenging stretch in places and, perhaps, seemed more so after the long drive and early start. It’s quite a remote stretch too with no refreshments along the path until you get into Brixham. It’s possible that some of the car parks just off the path have refreshments but I didn’t venture off to find out. If you’re considering walking this stretch then make sure you have some food and plenty of drinking water just in case. The guide and gps route suggest that this is an 11 mile trek; however, I clocked up just under 14 miles by the time I got into Brixham town centre.
As you probably know, this year I’m walking for charity and raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research. These have both touched my family severely over the years so I’d be so grateful if you’d be willing to support my fundraising efforts.
